We began by discussing the interview information we gathered on the support/enrichment period. Most interestingly the responses were mostly positive with a few negatives. Not overwhelmingly negative by any means.

We had a 7:20 meeting. Still waiting for one when everyone arrives on time.

Maddie was obviously sick and went home.

In class Sarah took over and handed back captions they had handed in. Too many of them were poorly done and so we retaught how to write a good one and then handed them back to those who handed them in.

We played the foot game, "to be continued", and silent football. Maddie, Alyssa, and Sarah did a skit to show new staffers how to make senior ads.

We started on Design training today. Friday I assigned them to send me one great design and I got something amazing from almost everyone. I realized that I need to give them the option of creating a digital design portfolio this year so I threw that out today and we wil see what happens.

Alyssa, Allie and Julia took over very well as Maddie and Sarah were gone.


We spent a good part of the period writing about and debriefing the first rally of the year which was pretty much a great success.

We did a good vs. bad photo powerpoint that Alyssa created and then wrote a caption on one of the rally photos.

I also gave the assignment for the to send to me one great design to usse as I begin my design training.

Hannah stayed after school to finish her story.

In class I finished my new and improved "Writing Copy They Will Read" keynote and then they got to revise their stories.

Tomorrow is the first rally and everyone is required to do a "sights and sounds" description of something at the rally, get a resonse from someone during the rally and another after it is over.

Tried to Skype with Lio, but I could not make the connection. Not sure what the issue is. Will keep working on it.

Today was Early Thursday, so classes were shorter.

In yearbook we did a caption exercise and took an open book quiz on the staff manual. I pass out my handout I use to guide the writing of their first story.
